12:40pm arrived
Was amazed at the restaurant's view, the buffet looked great and the chefs were so friendly. We waited for a few minutes until some guy came to approach us, I forgot to call the AOS Sofitel about the booking since I purchased the Groupon voucher early morning. But gladly he told us everything was fine and he assigned a nice table which I could observe the entire restaurant easily
We start our food journey with some soup and selections of salads,
Potato and salmon salad
- taste good and it has a smoky flavor
- We can tell the salmon is fresh
Wakame salad
- taste so flavorful
- I love this so much but I guess it is a bit over-seasoned (just a little bit too much)
Channa Chaat Salad
- the potato is not too mushy which is perfect also the flavour has authentic Indian herbs in it
Olive bread
- In my honest opinion is a bit tough to bite
- The inside is also a little bit dry because so far I remember an olive bread should have been a little moist
Ceasar salad (DIY)
- I love the dress it is so damn good bravo!!
Coleslaw salad
- is bitter as hell! Omg the worst! Not worthy! Omg my mouth is dead!
Chicken Fricassee
- creamy, yummy, and delicious! Please don't forget to eat this with rice! Wish for them to add a little bit more seasoning innit otherwise all good
Stir fry vegetable
- some of the veggies are overcooked and mushy even though the taste is so good but because of it, it ruined the entire dish
Potato roasted
- standard roasted potato flavor nothing to talk about it
- Perfectly cooked
Chicken Tangdi Kebab
- it's soft and nice especially if you add the black pepper sauce
- Sadly when I was enjoying the chicken so much and cut it open, there was still a red color bone there. Fyi, you can only find a red bone (blood) -in chicken if you do not cook it properly or you cook the chicken while the chicken is still frozen. Thumbs down.
- The funny part is they called it kebab but it wasn't lol
Oven-roasted tomato Soup
- We loved this! Eating with the crouton is just a perfection
Pasta
- love it and Dante I have no complaints at all haha
Salmon
- overcooked :( you guys killing the authentic salmon texture omg so sad
- It mentioned caper sauce but I saw no sauce inside
Live Taco
- besides the chef is so friendly and keeps smiling I loved the taco, tasted so balanced and it toasted well. Crunchy and fresh, I devour the entire thing. Haha
- They have a pretty setup station with their mini colorful taco there too, it looks unique
- Thumbs up to Chef Chandan, the AOC should have more chefs like you to attract more guests and make the guest feels welcome. I genuinely wish you get some recognition for your simple gesture.
Mutton Biryani
- yummy and flavorful, the mutton is soft and perfectly cooked (off the bone) it's like I don't need to do anything just put it in my mouth close my eyes, and enjoy. Succulent and perfect.
Chestnut mousse cake
- Directly can tell this is a chestnut cake
- Taste great and smooth, with a little hint of coconut tastes 6.5/10 but I prefer another desert (just for my personal opinion)
Chocolate Choux
- I can't hate this! This is so DAMN GOOOOODDD!!!! Take away, please!!!!
Tarte Saint Honore
- to call it an international cuisine the desserts are the ones that have an eyepiece, you can't resist nor reject it to try. You should and you must!
Exotic fruits cake
- again with the name, the actual thing wasn't incorporated well lol, there are no fruits at all
- Plus they did not mention it is a pineapple which is part of an allergen category, I had a pineapple allergy thank God my brother had it before me so he stopped me from eating it. They only mentioned Gluten, dairy, egg, and nut allergens yet the desserts contained weren't mentioned at all which is a bit dangerous for those who have a specific allergy as I do
- The taste is yummy as per my brother, the balancing between the pineapple flavor and coconut was magnificent
Mango Pannacotta
- so smooth and not overly sweet
- I give it 8/10 it is so refreshing honestly
Raspberry Banana Chocolate Dobosh
- It tastes good, the sponge is a little dry and should have been moist. The layers are crazy! Thumbs up to the patissier
- Hoping to get the banana flavor even stronger although the chocolate ganache is nice to compliment the entire dessert to create a name for some dishes without even understanding the dish itself for me it is just a downfall. I.e you call it orange cream cheese but you get no cream cheese flavor at all.
Matcha Jasmine Delices
- sadly tastes like “forgettable “
- No taste of matcha has been found
- Need some revamping because the basic idea was nice
American Cheese Brownie
- not complain just wish the brownie is more moist and not too cakey
- I barely taste the cheese flavor inside, if they mean by cheese it a cream cheese perhaps they can add it on top of the dessert instead
Arabic sweets
- not very special it is just some other desserts they purchased from a supplier, which I can tell from the look of it
Carrot Halwa
- I can taste the cardamon which is supposed to, taste good. And I guess they purchase it from outside (supplier)
- It is super easy to tell which desserts are chef-made and supplier
Another amazing from the culinary team here is during the busy time the Director of Culinary himself comes to check the buffet and ensure the foods are in good condition and refilled for the next guest. He looked so busy even not too shy removing dirty plates from the buffet to clear them, also he kept asking his team (the Chef in the life station) if they needed help or not. What a leadership! Awesome
Not just that, the experience I had at the Taco Live station also was memorable, the chef there always smiling whenever he gave the guests their order, he always asked them what kind of tacos they liked to have as a preference and he would make it front of you
Continued my journey with AOC service standards, the restaurant seemed busy at the time also from the next table I heard they expecting some group to come. So far I have seen 4 servers in our area with 5 tables occupied (2-5) each table. Sadly among 4 servers, nobody is even tentative enough to check a table of cutleries for each guest/table which is accoupied. We have to keep asking for a new fork or spoon whenever we need it - minus point. As a five-star hotel, it should be a setup standard that says “refill cutleries” and recognize what the guest needs.
A server came to our table and offered us some tea or coffee if we wanted to have any, hopefully I am not forgot or mistaken, her name is Jumei as in Jumeirah. Haha.
Jokes aside, she was nicely ensure we have a good service and everything we needs at the time which makes me thinking “where have you been?” since we sat to our table she's the only server who comes to out table and offer us some help or even drinks. After almost an hour we sat, imagine.
Another downfall from the service which for me should not have even happened is they serving our tea order with “a broken teapot”? Imagine getting this type of cutleries from a 5-star Hotel. The manager should have been more active in checking their utensils or chinaware. Not just delegate some tasks to the supervisor, by that I can guarantee this thing won't happen.
Overall experience - Lunch Buffet at AOC 7/10
