I had come for an evening Buffett dinner, I would have left feeling okay , but coming for brunch, I left feeling what’s happened to what was such a legendary brunch (albeit not been for 6 years). The price point is higher than the brilliant Brasserie 2.0, but the offering is chalk and cheese! The food - okay-ish, lots of choice, but zero theatre to it! Ambience - void , no start, middle, and end like you normally get at a decent brunch. Band - more interested in resting than playing, zero engagement and presence! Zero uniqueness - all felt very minimum effort but the hotel wanted max financial return. Never been to brunch where nothing happens at the table - shots, drink cart, hot item, entertainment etc. Waiting staff pleasant and meant well- team behind serving stations seemed like they really had no interest in being there. Always having to flag staff for drinks, once you caught their eye they were attentive. No last-round notification - never in 12 years of brunches has this happened! Managers with their heads in their phones - I wish my work WhatsApp’s were as joyful as their faces showed! They had no “true” interest in how our experience was. Lots of effort and passion in getting reviews - that should have been put into the service and ambience - actually really annoying! It all felt rather sad and a little bit desperate! The F&B head really needs to put some real thought behind your brunch offering, it’s really brand-destructive! Was it horrible.- no, not at all! but the hotel cant get away with charging such a premium price (999 for a champagne package) when delivering something that is barely mediocre when comparing it to other brunches at that price point and below.
